After a brief cricketing career, he began his acting career in 2009 by playing the lead in the sports movie Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. He received praise for his performance. With his portrayal of a fisherman in Neerparavai (2012), Vishnu received additional praise. His breakout performance was in the psychological suspense movie Ratsasan (2018).

Ramesh Kudawla, a senior police officer in Tamil Nadu, is the father of Vishnu Vishal. In Tiruchirappalli, at the Campion Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, he completed his education. After earning an MBA in marketing from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, he continued on to play cricket in TNCA league matches. A leg injury put an end to his cricket career, though, and the actor said that while he was bedridden, he started watching movies and developed an interest in acting.

Vishnu’s interest in the business was influenced by his father’s uncle, who had appeared in a number of minor films. He adopted the name Vishnu for the film industry before later adding his birth name. Vishnu spent months getting ready for the part after Anand Chakravarthy offered him a part in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Suseenthiran’s first film as a director. He had to spend hours in the sun tanning his body in order to get black and look like a player.
