The 4th of January 1996 saw the birth of Emma Margaret Marie Tachard-Mackey. She is a British-French actress. After playing bit parts in independent and short films, Mackey made her breakthrough as Maeve Wiley on the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–present), for which she was nominated for a British Academy Television Award.
This led to her receiving minor roles in other independent and short films. She has acted in the drama films Eiffel (2021), Death on the Nile (2022), and Emily (partly fictional, partly biographical), among others. The daughter of a French father and an English mother, Emma Margaret Marie Tachard-Mackey was born in Le Mans. Her father is a headmaster of a school. She was raised in Sablé-sur-Sarthe and graduated from high school in 2013 with High Honors from the l’académie de Nantes in France.
She then moved to England to attend the University of Leeds to study English language and literature. 2016 marked her graduation. Mackey holds dual British and French citizenship and resides in London. As Maeve Wiley, a smart, witty, and business-savvy “bad girl,” Mackey was cast in her first professional role for the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education. She persuades Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), a fellow student, to launch an illicit sex therapy practise at their school.
“This is my first piece of work,” she declared. It was a very joyful time, and it still is. Her work on the show has brought Mackey praise. According to The Hindustan Times, “Emma Mackey’s performance as Maeve is a revelation; it’s possibly the best by a young British actor I’ve watched since I found Florence Pugh.” She is seductive yet distant, cool-headed but sentimental, and quick-witted but hopelessly in love. She was nominated for a British Academy Television Award in 202 for the part, and in 2022 she took home the National Comedy Award.
